Project Aral 2020 Continuous Education Amidst The Pandemic

The Year 2020 has been a difficult and challenging for all of us because of the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, we are still going through from the effects of the virus be it physically, mentally, and economically. There are many sectors which are greatly affected, one of which is our education system. The Philippine government has suspended physical classes and have introduced distance learning via online to help stop the spread of the virus especially those in areas that are placed under quarantine.

The government has proposed and implemented mediums or platforms such as Online Learning, Modular, Televised Learning, and even Radio Learning. These are great alternatives for the students to be able to continue their education. However, not all schools and parents can afford the necessary learning tools that the students need.

Despite all the challenges we are facing, Thome Group still stands on its advocacy to give back to the community. We have partnered with Project Guro PH—a small group of local teachers who have the burning passion that teaching is not confined to the four walls of the classroom. They have the same advocacy to help underprivileged children in our society through free summer classes, tutorials, feeding programs and school supplies distribution.

We have chosen the Daraetan Elementary School where students are members of Indigenous People to be our beneficiary for the School Kit donation.

A School Kit is composed of the following materials:
• Kinder – Grade 3: 2 Notebooks, 3 Pencils, 1 Sharpener,
1 Intermediate Pad
• Grade 4 – Grade 6: 2 Notebooks, 2 Ballpens, 3 Pencils,
1 Intermediate Pad

With the desire to help, ROHQ employees were able to raise 630 School Kits which were able to cater all students from the Daraetan Elementary School. The compassion and resiliency of our employees never cease to amaze us. We are hoping that these children will continue to learn no matter the challenges they may face; as our Philippine National Hero, Jose P. Rizal would say, “Kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan”.

We would like to take this opportunity also to thank the Management and everyone who have supported this great cause.
