In this challenging period amidst the pandemic where seafarers are working for extended periods onboard vessels and put through prolonged separation from their loved ones, Jurong Port is pleased to have been able to offer and facilitate a much-needed crew change for the state-of-the-art Thome Group vessel DSV Southern Star.

The Southern Star was carrying out a 24/7 mobilisation in Jurong Port between 1st to 7th July for the offshore maintenance of a KNOC/MODEC FPSO in Vietnam. During the mobilisation, a closely coordinated crew change involving 19 signing-off crew and 12 signing-on crew, many of whom had already been on the vessel for up to 200 days, was carried out. The crew change had been planned in detail for more than 3 weeks prior and involved stringent measures to ensure safety to the health of all involved.

We were glad to see the long-staying off-signers finally make their way back home to their families. Jurong Port is grateful to KNOC/MODEC, Shelf & Bintang Subsea, Thome Offshore and Tasik Subsea for the trust placed in us and our Project Logistics Hub team, and for the support and coordination of government agencies including MOM, MPA, ICA and Singapore Shipping Association.
