Thome Group Historical Timeline
The original bearer of the Thome name, Fridtjov Thome, set up Thome & Co in 1963 and undertook agency work mainly for Scandinavian owners, in addition to his chartering and shipbroking activities.
Thome Ship Management is incorporated, and Olav Eek Thorstensen comes onboard. Its Singapore
headquarters is set up.
Olav Eek Thorstensen became the sole owner of Thome Group.
TSM SHIPPING (PHILS.) INC. was established as a joint venture company with the THOME Group of Companies in Singapore which combines the recognized Norwegian tradition of shipping and the well-known Asian drive to succeed.
Thome Marine Consultants was inaugurated that specializes in technical consulting.
FridtjovThome retired in 1994 and sold his shares to PT SamundraPetrindo, at that time renamed Osprey Maritime.
Thome was accredited as the first Singaporean company to receive the ISM Code Document of Compliance Certificate.
Thome Shipmanagement Norway AS incorporated
Thome continuously expands the business by creating another business unit called Thome Offshore Management Pte, which offers turn-key management solutions for new building, conversion and operation of offshore support vessels.
Thome opened its Shared Services Center Thome Ship Management ROHQ. The group’s principal Regional Headquarters Office in Manila.
Thome Group secured its first dedicated presence in Europe with the opening of an office in Zadar, Croatia. The office acts as a service driven unit for group managed ships calling at European ports.
Thome introduces a new business unit, Thome Oil & Gas Incorporated which offers operations and maintenance on offshore oil and gas installations with strong focus on FSO, FPSO, FSU, production rigs and facilities.
PT TimurShip Management was established to offer personalised ship management services to
Asian /Indonesian-owned trading vessels for both domestic and international trade.
Thome becomes the first third party Ship Manager to gain accreditation for DNV’s Competence Management System.
This year Thome Shipping (India) Private Limited is set to expand the pool of Indian officers.
Thome Group continues to expand its global footprint – New Office Thome Denmark- opened in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Thome Group extended its services to Myanmar establishing Thome Shipping (Myanmar) Limited.
The Group commemorates its 50th anniversary, with celebrations in Singapore, Manila, Oslo and Copenhagen.
