Olav Eek Thorstensen
Executive Chairman of the Thome Group

Thome Ship Management began third-party ship management in 1976 and has today grown into one of the largest third-party ship management companies in Asia. Led by Mr Thorstensen, the group today offers a wide range of shipping services including full technical management of every kind of oil and chemical tankers, LNG vessels and other specialist tonnage.

Mr Thorstensen has been actively involved in various high level associations and Singapore Government bodies including time as a Council Member of the Singapore Shipping Association and as an advisor to various developmental committees of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Olav Nortun
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Olav Nortun joined Thome as Chief Executive Officer of the Thome Group. Olav, a Norwegian national, brings with him vast experience in the maritime industry with more than 15 years of leading international operations.

He has worked with DNV GL for many years in different locations around the world, culminating in his most recent role as Executive Vice President of its Classification Division.

He has a Master of Science in Naval Architecture from the Norwegian Institute of Technology with executive education at INSEAD, Fontanebleau and IMD in Lausanne.

Claes Eek Thorstensen
President and CCO of the Thome Group

Claes joined the group in 2000 and has held various management positions culminating with his role as Managing Director of Thome Offshore Management before his promotion to President.

He is also the Chief Commercial Officer of the Group, responsible for building the group’s existing business divisions and developing opportunities in Europe and South East Asia.

Claes has a Master of Science (MSc) in Marine Engineering, a qualified Chief Engineer (Class 1, Unlimited) and Chartered Engineer (CEng). He also holds an Executive MBA in Shipping, Offshore and Finance.

Martin Mcgregor
Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Martin McGregor joined the Thome Group as Chief Financial Officer in January 2009. As CFO, he oversees the financial and risk management operations of the Thome Group.

Prior to Thome, Martin gained broad international experience in senior roles in a number of multinational companies, most recently as International Finance Director with InFocus Corporation, where he was responsible for all finance operations outside of the US.

Martin earned a 1st Class Honours Degree as Bachelor of Science from the University of Bradford and qualified as Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse in 1994.

Steen Nygaard Madsen
Chief Operating Officer, Tanker Division

Steen is responsible for the running of the whole division, onboard and ashore, including Technical, Marine and Crewing functions, managing various types of tankers from Product Tankers to Gas LPG & LNG

Before joining Thome, Steen spent 22 years with Maersk, both at sea and ashore, in a variety of roles culminating with that of Technical Director.

He then spent 3 Years with Nordic Tankers as Technical Director before joining Thome in 2014.

Yatin Gangla
Chief Technical Officer, Fleet Support and Innovation

Yatin is responsible for the running of the whole division, onboard and ashore, including Technical, Marine and Crewing functions, managing various types of bulk carriers from Handymax to VLOCs and tankers from Product Tankers to VLCCs.

Yatin joined Thome as a Chief Engineer and has worked as a Superintendent and Fleet Group Manager managing vessels belonging to some of the major ship owning companies in the world and has supervised tankers, gas carriers, bulk carriers and container vessels.

He has over 30 years of experience as a maritime professional.

Sean Hutchings
Chief Operating Officer, Bulk Division

Sean Hutchings has 17 years’ experience in Asia with DNV GL, including 10 years at a senior management level. He has managed a team of managers overseeing all maritime and offshore Classification activities for South East Asia and he has a wealth of managerial and technical expertise.

He has a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons), University of Auckland, NZ. He is also a Member of Royal Institution of Naval Architects, UK.

Simon Frank
Chief Human Resources Officer

Simon oversees both HR and Strategic Marine HR divisions of the Thome Group. His role includes developing onshore and offshore HR strategies in support of the overall strategic objectives of the Thome Group and Thome’s broad range of clients.

Simon has more than 20 years’ experience in crewing operations.  In his previous role, he has been with VGroup as Managing Director Crewing Operations East. Simon also has extensive exposure to various ship management companies and ship owners.

Gautam Kashyap
Chief Operating Officer, Marine Services

Gautam joined Thome Group in 2017 as Vice President, Business Development. He is promoted to Chief Operating Officer, Marine Services in 2020. He oversees Marine Services division including Thome Agency, Travel, logistics and Marine Consultancy.

A Master Mariner, Gautam has over 25 years in Marine industry, including 10 years at sea.

Prior to Thome, Gautam has worked with leading ship owner, ship manager and trading house. He brings along a diverse experience in business development, asset management and ship management.

Tom Hamer
Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Offshore

Tom Hamer joined Thome in 2014, and is responsible for the overall management of the vessels and assets under Thome Oil & Gas and Thome Offshore Management.

Before joining Thome, Tom had worked in a  global fleet management role for McDermott International, handling a diverse fleet of offshore construction vessels, including Dive Support Vessels, pipelay vessels, multipurpose construction vessels and semi-submersible heavy lift barges.

Prior to working onshore, Tom sailed in ranks up to Master on various vessel types, mostly in the offshore and subsea construction sector. Tom holds an unlimited Master Mariner licence and an MBA from the University of Strathclyde Business School.
